S.S Shieldhall

The SS Sheildhall is the last survivor of her kind and the largest steam ship in Europe. Members of the The Solent Steam Packet are dedicated to keeping the ship in operational condition and she now serves as a passenger cruising vessel.

J&J Carter acted as a specialist contractor for Shieldhall and were asked to design, manufacture and install a canopy structure to provide a comfortable covered lounge area for passengers. We had to consider that nothing would be regular as our usual projects are not erected on sea going vessels!

We managed to overcome these challenges and created a canopy that exceeded the clients' requirments.

Customer testimonial: "The structure J&J Carter designed for us was fantastic. They overcame the difficulties and were able to find practical solutions that suited both our requirements, the constraints of the ships construction and our passengers needs. We were impressed with how helpful and efficient the company was from design to installation." - Terry Brook, Operations Director.
