Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Newbury

You need flash player

This project involved the design and installation of fabric sails 11 metres above ground level to create a ceiling feature for the atrium within the Bayer Offices in Newbury.

A simple triangular steel frame was used as the hub of the design in order to suspend the sails, which are installed in the 250 sq m atrium.

The fabric is a woven glass fibre with a PVC coating, which conforms to BS 476 for fire retardency. Due to a complex roof truss arrangement, an accurate 3D survey and model was done to ensure total alignment of the sails with proposed fixings in the roof.
