Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow - North Stand
J&J Carter undertook the design, manufacture and installation of a 1432 sq.metre multi bay conic stadium structure as part of multi million pound refurbishment program to the Scotstoun Stadium Athletics & Rugby Ground in Glasgow. This facility will be used for the Commonwealth Games in 2014. For the masters on the squash court or the table tennis table, Scotstoun Stadium and Sports Centre will be the focus of the action. The Scotstoun Sports Centre is already well known for its athletics and rugby and the facilities have been upgraded to meet the requirements of international squash. The centre will also be used for training purposes for track and field athletes.

The North Stand covers some 1432 sq.m and can accomodate approximately 1200 spectators. The structure is a multi-bay conic style cantilevered off columns to the rear of the stand. Membrane is Type IV PVDF Lacquered PVC Coated Polyester.

The above photos highlights the way the complex method of dealing with rainwater is managed. You can see above the rainwater divertor on the top side of membrane follows specially designed contours to ensure accurate rainwater run off.
