March 1998 - 10 YEARS FOR J & J Carter

J & J Carter are commissioned to create a 16,500m2 tensile PVC cover for Howden Water Works. At the time this was the largest area span to be covered in the UK.

For this structure, J & J Carter won awards in Paris and England at the Made Up Textiles Association.

1999: 

  • J & J Carter become ISO 9001 Registered, recognised for their critical importance of quality customer service and product quality for Design, Manufacture and Installation of Fabric Structures.
  • Introduction of PTFE Welding at J & J Carter, enabling the production of Teflon Coated Membranes which provide design life in excess of 25 years.

2000:

  • Sales of Keder to North America commences.
  • Installation of Hospitality Suite at the Nicosia Racecourse, Cyprus.
  • Howden Sewerage Treatment Works Project wins JEC Composites Award for Best reinforced Structure in Europe, and MUTA Project of the Year
  • Standing at 43 metres high, the “Sails of the South” in Portsmouth is manufactures, the most complex tensioned membrane structure in the country to date.
  • The “Superstructure” is designed and manufactured. A state of the art, lightweight tensile structure with 13 modular bays that can be re-configured to meet the requirements of clients.
