Aberglasney Gardens

Aberglasney House and Gardens is a medieval house and gardens set in the Tywi valley in the parish of Llangathen, Carmarthenshire, West Wales. It is owned and run by Aberglasney Restoration Trust, a registered charity.

Aberglasney was made famous by the BBC television series “A Garden Lost in Time” which followed the sites restoration. Today it remains one of Wales’ finest gardens, and at its heart lies a fully restored Elizabethan Cloister Garden that is the only surviving example of its kind in the UK today.

As part of this restoration, J & J Carter were commissioned to provide shelter to two important areas. The first assignment was to shelter the space outside the triple archway doors at the rear of Aberglasney House. This concert canopy was created in a sand shade of PVC to be in keeping with the lovingly restored medieval house.

Our second project was much larger and for this we selected our Hampshire Structures Series 90 with 6m span and a conic roof system.

Our pagoda marquee structure has been utilised to shelter the outdoor terrace that surrounds the popular tearooms, which overlooks the Pool Garden. Thousands of visitors utilise this space each year to enjoy freshly prepared cakes, pastries and afternoon tea.
