Yes, any structure in place for over 28 days necessitates planning permission. It's crucial to consult with your Local Authority's Planning Department for guidance. Our buildings are built from a series of clearspan portal frames. These frames are normally aluminium; however, depending upon the span and application they may be built from steel. The roof cladding is a high tenacity PVC PVC-coated polyester with a 20-year design life. Side Walls are either PVC, UPVC Insulated Modular Board or composite steel sheet.

At J & J Carter, we offer a Double Skin Air Filled Roof system. This increases the thermal performance from 4.92 to 2.33 W/m2/K. Using our White Translucent PVC roof covering you’ll still have a light interior to the building. In respect of side wall cladding, using our UPVC Solid Walls we achieve a thermal performance of 2.29 W/m2/K; however, this can be improved by insulating the chambers and then we can achieve 1.005 W/m2/K.

The need for foundations for industrial structures, including tensile fabric structures, depends on various factors, such as the type of structure, its size, local building codes, and the specific requirements of your project. At J & J Carter, our aluminium structures can be erected without concrete foundations and are normally resin-anchored to concrete hardstanding or earth-anchored through tarmacadam. Our Steel halls will need foundation pads.
