From Concept to Creation: Our Process

Established in 1988, J & J Carter has built a reputation for providing customers with high-quality manufactured tensile architecture. Satisfaction with the finished product is our priority, which is backed up by excellent after-care service. Our business is built around a wealth of experience, complemented by state-of-the-art computer-aided design and manufacturing methods. We pride ourselves on a high percentage of repeat business and recommendations from domestic consumers, contractors and builders.

Initial Enquiry

Our knowledgeable staff will discuss your needs and budget with you to create a customised solution. We can manage a project from start to finish, from advising on the best product for the location and purpose to overseeing design, manufacturing, and installation.

As pioneers of the tensile architecture industry, you can rely on J & J Carter to ensure that your project runs smoothly. Our project managers will walk you through the entire process, from concept to completion and beyond. They will be assigned to your project and use their technical knowledge, understanding of your industry, and ability to multitask to ensure that the job is managed efficiently from start to finish.

Design and Engineering

The finest engineering and design standards are used to create all our structures. Our in-house design team focuses on form and function while utilising cutting-edge technologies to create both eye-catching and effective constructions.

Following your approval, the engineer will take the architectural brief and begin the design with a series of general arrangements, continuing to develop it into a full production model and drawings. Creating the 3D form with specialised software and extracting the structural parts will result in fabrication shop drawings; this allows you to visualise your design concepts and see the final product.

Manufacturing

Our projects are manufactured in our two factories based in Andover, where our production department will be issued with manufacturing details to allow them to produce your tensile structures, including air-supported domes, fabric frame constructions and tensioned membrane structures. Our 2000m2 textile fabrication facilities and in-house steel and aluminium fabrication facility use the latest computer-controlled cutting, high-frequency welding, heat sealing, sewing and finishing equipment, allowing our experienced craftsmen to handle the products with the utmost care and attention to detail.

Installation

We provide a comprehensive selection of installation and fitting styles for all projects, regardless of size. Installation is provided by our crews, who have over two decades of experience installing our products. Our crews have worked on some of the most challenging structures all over the world.

Aftercare and Recycling

Once the product is ready for delivery or installation, a member of our team will contact you to arrange a convenient time for both parties. Once the structure is erected and handed over to the client, we can offer an aftercare service. Like any building, tensile structures will require some, albeit minimal, maintenance. Our aftercare service is key to preserving your tensioned membrane structure’s warranty, as well as keeping the membrane looking as good as the day it was installed.

J & J Carter Ltd recognises the need for sustainable development and continually aims to improve the environmental impact of our activities. We only use materials which can be recycled or reused at the end of their life, and we have an in-house recycling programme for all our raw materials. All recycling is undertaken within the UK.
