The Advantages of Tensile Fabric Structures for Sport Facilities

Many schools and leisure centres are constantly looking for ways to improve their athletic facilities. From playing organised sports to working out in a local gym, the design of the building should create an environment in which the user can perform to their full potential. Long-term success requires these organisations to have an indoor training facility that not only saves money but also provides an impressive and multifunctional space to attract guests.

When compared to a traditional indoor training facility, J&J Carter's tensile fabric sports domes provide several advantages to both sports facility owners and athletes who use them. Whether an organisation already has a gym building and wants to improve its design or wants to build an entirely new indoor training facility, a fabric tensile structure can be an excellent solution.

What are Tensile Sports Domes?

Sports halls are structures built on-site to create a covered area for various sporting activities. These tensile sports structures can be erected quickly, dismantled, and even relocated due to their module pre-fabrication. Sports domes by J&J Carter are made in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, transported to the site and assembled there, where they can remain for the short or long term. These durable, well-built tensile structures offer a multi-purpose portable solution that can withstand all weather conditions.

Protection from All Weather

Year-round coverage is possible with sports hall domes since tensile fabric structure systems are not affected by the weather. This removes the seasonality aspect of any sport, allowing athletes to enjoy their favourite sports without the constraints of changing weather. In rain, sun, or heavy snowfall, your J&J Carter fabric sports hall can withstand the harshest climates and conditions, while keeping users comfortable. Our temporary sports halls include heating and cooling options, as well as improved insulation and passive ventilation methods.

Cleaner and Healthier Facility

A clean environment is essential for any sports facility to keep guests returning. A tensile fabric structure makes an indoor training facility far easier to maintain while also providing benefits that traditional brick buildings simply cannot provide.

J&J Carter’s tensile sports structures are designed to stay clean and require little maintenance. The reliable fabric cover and corrosion-resistant steel frames keep guests safe and are built to last for decades. This allows businesses to concentrate on cleaning the equipment and addressing minor maintenance issues, rather than worrying about the other aspects of running a typical gym building.

Natural Light

The light-coloured fabric membrane roof lets natural light in, illuminating the sports facility, while the white roof surface reflects heat, lowering energy consumption. Our sports facilities can be fully insulated and heated in an energy-efficient manner to reduce operating costs. As part of our commitment to sustainable construction, our team can provide advice on energy savings and other utilities.

Customisable Features

Sports domes by J&J Carter can be built to any size specification. We can design a tensile structure to cover football fields, tennis courts, swimming pools, or equestrian arenas, meeting your specifications and including plenty of room to grow in the future. Our sports domes can accommodate a wide range of doors and windows, ventilation and HVAC systems, lighting, flooring, and equipment.

Sports Dome from J&J Carter

At J&J Carter, we offer two types of tensile fabric sports structures, air halls and fabric sports structures.

Air halls have soft roof membrane structures that are supported by air pressure within a completely enclosed space, which goes unnoticed by the facility user.  air halls are ideal for both recreational and industrial applications, such as tennis courts, swimming pools, and hockey arenas.

Our frame fabric sports structures consist of a PVC tensile membrane fabric, stretched over a steel framework. By using steel framing, it is possible for us to design and engineer a bespoke option to suit all requirements and incorporate extra loads such as ancillary equipment, HVAC systems and lighting.

J&J Carter's indoor sports facilities can be installed quickly and easily, so you can start using your new tensile sports structures sooner than you would with a traditional building. When you invest in a fabric-covered sports facility from J&J Carter, you will receive a high-quality building that will last for years to come. All our structures are designed to exceed the highest engineering standards and are always approved by a certified engineer.
