Howden Treatment Works

NWH water operates in the north east and south east of England, providing water and sewage services to 2.7 million people.

They invested £11 million to upgrade Howden Sewage Treatment Works. As part of the upgrade, NWH wanted to aid better air dispersal and increase the capacity of existing odour control systems.

As a result, J & J Carter were called upon to manufacture a 16,500 m2 Tensile Membrane to cover the Sewage Treatment Works. This cover allowed the staff of Howden to regulate and control odour. Also the modular barrel vaulted design allows the site operators to open and close the tanks in order to test its contents.
