Kismet Cabana: Clearspan Marquee
Kismet Cabana is a celebrated beach café and restaurant located directly on Ouaisne Bay, Jersey, offering a unique fusion of beach culture and international street food.
As a premier destination for al fresco dining on the island, the owners sought a high-quality, permanent-feeling solution to expand their capacity and extend the operating season, maximising their stunning coastal views while providing reliable shelter.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was designing and installing a structure that could withstand the demanding Jersey coastal environment.
The solution needed to be exceptionally durable, capable of resisting strong winds and sea air, while maintaining a premium aesthetic that complemented the Kismet Cabana brand and the beautiful Ouaisne Bay setting. Crucially, the structure had to offer unobstructed scenic views for diners.
Our Solution: Hampshire Structures Series 90
J & J Carter partnered with Kismet Cabana to specify and install a Hampshire Structures Series 90 Aluminium Clearspan Marquee. This choice was crucial due to the Series 90's reputation for robustness, quality engineering, and its ability to serve as a semi-permanent, all-weather restaurant space.
To achieve a soft, welcoming aesthetic that matched the beachside retreat, we incorporated a distinctive curved roof profile. This design element not only softened the structure's appearance but also enhanced its ability to efficiently shed water and manage high winds a necessity for a durable beach structure in Jersey.
