Commissioned for the DHL Rugby World Cup

As one of the UK’s leading marquee manufacturers, J & J Carter are often contacted to provide bespoke event structures for high profile clients. This year we were excited to be contracted by Bright Partnerships on behalf of their well-known client, DHL.

The Brief

To design and manufacture the Cupola Roof membranes for the DHL fan activation zones. Bright Partnerships had already sourced the canopy frames which needed cladding. The frames were brought to our facility in Andover, where they were surveyed to obtain geometry. With just four days to turn around this high priority project, our diligent team worked around the clock to ensure the deadline was met without any compromise to our high-quality standards

The Strategy

J & J Carter undertook the exercise of form-finding and patterning the roof membranes. The yellow membranes were made using a Sauleda VIP FR PVC - 590gsm flame retardant structure grade PVC. Once the first membrane had been made, it was test fitted in the factory.

Bonus Points

A unique feature of the roof was our integral rainwater drainage system. Cleverly designed and certainly a necessity this year! The canopies have been deployed at various stadiums around Japan, latterly in Yokohama. You can follow them on Twitter via @DHLRugby

No Sin Bin for us, working with Bright Partnerships has led to an outstanding result!

"What an exceptional experience. Looks INCREDIBLE!!! Thank you so, so much for the outstanding turnaround!! Cannot beat customer service like that!" - David Sturgess, Production Manager
